From January 24 to 28, 2025, the Saisons District in the iconic La Défense area of Paris became a hub of innovation and collaboration as professionals from around the globe gathered for the Flash International Urban Workshop. With over 100 applicants vying for a spot, Ashleigh Florence-Brander, Principal Consultant: Urban Design, was among the 20 selected professionals from diverse backgrounds, including Brazil, Mexico, Vietnam, Luxembourg, Germany, the USA, South Africa, and France.
At the heart of modern engineering lies a critical imperative: sustainability is not a constraint, but a catalyst for innovation and long-term success. In sectors like mining, infrastructure, and energy, projects are increasingly defined by their ability to harmonise technical excellence with environmental stewardship and social responsibility. Yet too often, sustainability is relegated to compliance checklists —a reactive approach that jeopardises project outcomes.
In celebrating our past, we also embrace the diverse cultural landscape that defines us. This is a reminder of how our unique differences unite us, creating an unparalleled bond of unity and strength.
Zutari, in partnership with CESA, held the 2024 Job Shadow Day over two days (3 and 4 July 2024). Our Tshwane and Cape Town offices hosted over 80 Grade 11 and 12 learners with an interest in engineering sciences. The programme fuelled their excitement and curiosity about how Zutari works. It further gave them a front-row seat into a day in the life of engineers entails.
Given the historical male dominance in the STEM industries, Zutari chose to celebrate IWD by highlighting female pioneers from various fields and profiles in Zutari. We asked them to share their experiences, talk about their careers and teams, and ultimately tell us what #InspireInclusion means to them as women leading the way for others. 
Zutari’s first digital technology expo was a huge success, seeing an unmatched turnout during the two events in our Cape Town and Tshwane offices.

A new synthesis report on Global Stocktake elements, published by the UN Climate Change, is expected to take centre stage at the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference COP28 from 30 November to 12 December, predicts Dr Thapelo Letete, Director: Climate Change at Zutari. Letete will represent the leading consulting engineering and infrastructure advisory practice at an important framework session on climate transparency in developing countries on the final day of COP28.
Leading consulting engineering and infrastructure advisory firm Zutari not only had an independently adjudicated best oral and poster presentation at the 7th Young Water Professionals (YWP ) conference that took place from 8 to 10 November in Stellenbosch, it also had a significant involvement in organising the event itself.
