Power transmission and distribution
The power transmission and distribution market faces increasing regulatory scrutiny, volatility in price and demand, and a growing demand for alternative energy sources.

We understand the technical and commercial demands that the energy market faces. It’s why we employ energy professionals who have worked with both private- and public-sector energy companies and utilities throughout the continent and globally. In addition to a strong Energy team, we have more a strong team of experts in Transmission and Distribution with backgrounds in Electrical Engineering, Transmission and Distribution substation and power line design, Protection and Control, SCADA, telecommunication and metering designs.
Bringing empathy into our designs and the art of truly listening to our clients so we can properly interpret and advise on infrastructure requirements, we respond at both technical and societal level. It’s what provides our engineers with a real sense of achievement and ability to contribute to a-lasting legacy.
Zutari T&D are currently working across the African continent on various Grid Connection projects with a strong focus on Renewable Energy including solar, CSP, hydro and wind on distribution voltage levels as well as transmission. We also do Sub-Transmission Network Refurbishment Planning for networks that are approaching the end of their design life and show declining reliability in performance, reduced safety margins, functional inadequacy, obsolescence or general deterioration.
Zutari T&D has industry leading capabilities for undertaking all necessary power system studies for small and large power systems including specialised load flow studies for interconnected grid systems, fault level studies, load forecasting, options studies to relieve network constraints, reactive power compensation and system voltage management, harmonic analysis and power system quality of supply, power system security and steady state and dynamic system stability studies including critical clearing time assessments, Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) and Power System Stabiliser (PSS) settings assessments and generator stability studies, and power system transient modelling.
We also deliver specialist services in substation engineering and design. These skills have been built on extensive experience in planning and developing electricity infrastructure projects including transmission lines, substations, wind farms and power stations, as well as a diverse range of other infrastructure projects. Our experience in those areas spans the full project life cycle including planning, feasibility, cost estimation, concept design and detailed design, addressing the technical, functional, environmental and social dimensions of such projects.
Our inhouse creative technology and visualisation teams help us to develop virtual walkthrough models to review real space requirements and optimise our designs. It facilitates faster and better decisions and quicker turnaround time on our designs.
