NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION ISSUANCE FOR THE PROPOSED GOD’S WINDOW SKYWALK PROJECT IN THE THABA CHWEU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, MPUMALANGA PROVINCE

Notice is hereby given in terms of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, 2014 (amended April 2017), under the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No.107 of 1998) (“NEMA”), that the Mpumalanga Department: Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (MDARDLEA) has granted Environmental Authorisation (EA) for the proposed God’s Window tourist facility. A copy of this approval, dated 15 November 2022, is found below.

The Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) and the Applicant are aware that they should notify the stakeholders of the Department’s decision within fourteen days of the date of the decision. However, due to an administrative issue, the EAP and the Applicant only received a copy of the EA on 8 March 2023.

We would like to draw your attention to your right to appeal against the MDARDLEA’s decision in terms of the National Appeal Regulations (2014) (GN R993 of 8 December 2014). Should you wish to appeal any aspect of the decision, you must submit the appeal to the Appeal Administrator and a copy of such an appeal to the Applicant (Mapulana Canyon (Pty) Ltd) within 20 days from the date of notification of the decision (i.e., by 29 March 2023), and such appeal must be lodged as prescribed in Chapter 2 of the National Appeal Regulations of 2014.
