Zutari has been proudly playing a transformative role in the development landscape of Lesotho, drawing upon our extensive experience in infrastructure, since the 1950s. Our commitment to the region is reflected in our local office established in 1989, through which we have significantly contributed to landmark projects, including the esteemed Lesotho Highlands Water Project.

Lesotho Highlands Water Project inception
1953
In 1953, while carrying out investigations commissioned by the British Government into the rivers of the Lesotho, Ninham Shand first conceived the idea of diverting the headwaters of the Orange River from an altitude of some 10 000 ft in the Lesotho Mountains to augment the limited water supplies available for South Africa.
