Investigating a critical error at Unit 3 at Ruacana
Zutari was appointed to provide technical assistance and carry out root cause analysis in order to find the cause of the fault at Unit 3 of the Ruacana Hydropower Station, after the Namibia Power Corporation (NamPower) experienced high vibration at the unit.
Ruacana is NamPower’s most important power installation, with an installed capacity of more than 240 MW. The problem was traced to the failure of one of the turbine wearing rings.
