Zutari was appointed to carry out the full scope of civil and structural engineering services, from concept design through to IFC. This included bridges, civil structures, utilities infrastructure, alignments and pavements, in addition to serving as Architect of Record.
Zutari analysed the elevated cycle track structures and developed the structural solutions for two primary bridge typologies:
Cable stayed bridges:
- The bridge deck consists of fabricated steel edge beams inclined in the same plane as the cable stays.
- A transverse deck is supported by prefabricated reinforced concrete panels topped with in situ reinforced concrete.
- Cable stays support the deck at regular intervals and are anchored to V shaped pylon pairs, creating a visually striking structure.
Continuous steel bridges:
- These bridges share a similar deck profile with the cable stayed structures but span more modest distances.
- The deck is supported on steel columns with three arrangements:
– V shaped
– M shaped (providing transverse stability)
– Inverted pyramid shaped (providing longitudinal stability)
Services Provided:
- Concept to IFC design for civil structures and bridges
- Utilities and infrastructure design
- Alignment and pavement design
- Geotechnical engineering
- Architect of Record services
