The Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Royal Reserve (PMBSR) is an ecologically sensitive destination designed to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. Following the approval of the Scenic Route concept in August 2024, the challenge was to translate this vision into actionable schematic designs for eight distinct points of interest.

The opportunity

The Reserve required designs that balance sustainability, cultural preservation and immersive visitor experiences while meeting technical and environmental demands. Each location needed to serve as a narrative node, enhancing engagement and ecological harmony.

What we did

In January 2025, PMBSR invited Zutari to lead the schematic design phase, building on concept work completed in 2024. Zutari’s multidisciplinary approach included:

  • Landscape architecture and environmental science integration

  • Digital visualisation for immersive design storytelling

  • Feasibility and resilience planning for sensitive ecosystems

  • Coordination of engineering and sustainability principles


Each point of interest was designed to reflect the Reserve’s ethos while ensuring constructability and long-term viability.
The Scenic Route’s schematic designs harmonise cultural narratives with environmental stewardship, creating a world-class visitor experience.

The outcome

Zutari delivered schematic designs that honour the Reserve’s natural beauty and cultural significance while meeting technical and sustainability requirements. These designs set the foundation for a transformative visitor experience aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

The PMBSR Scenic Route project demonstrates Zutari’s ability to combine engineering precision with creative storytelling. By integrating sustainability and cultural context, Zutari helps shape destinations that inspire and endure.

Each point of interest was treated as a unique narrative node, designed to elevate visitor engagement and ecological harmony.
