Scania is a global manufacturer of trucks, buses, and engines, operating in over 100 countries. With production units in Europe, South America, and Asia, Scania also maintains a network of vehicle service centres worldwide to support its operations and customer base.

The opportunity

Scania’s strategic investment in up to 15 global service centres presented an opportunity to enhance its service infrastructure across key markets. The first of these centres, located in Nairobi, Kenya, required a locally relevant and technically robust solution to meet the company’s high standards and operational needs.

What we did

Zutari was appointed to provide comprehensive design and management services for the Nairobi facility. The scope included:

  • Engineering design across all disciplines

  • Quantity surveying

  • Architectural services (sub-contracted)

  • Project management and coordination

The Nairobi service centre comprises a large warehouse complex with service pits, offices, an environmental complex, wash bays, and guardhouse facilities. Zutari’s multidisciplinary team ensured the solution was tailored to local conditions while aligning with Scania’s global standards.
The Nairobi service centre features purpose-built service pits and wash bays, designed to streamline vehicle maintenance operations.

The outcome

The Nairobi facility marks a significant milestone in Scania’s expansion strategy in Africa. Zutari’s integrated approach delivered a high-quality, functional, and scalable solution that supports Scania’s long-term service goals. The success of this project sets the foundation for the rollout of additional centres globally.

“Zutari delivered a locally relevant solution that meets our global standards – a true partner in our expansion journey.”
