Project Title: Proposed Environmental Maintenance Management Plan (EMMP) for the Proposed Repair and Maintenance Works at Atlantis, Cape Town, Western Cape

 

Project Proposal and Location: The Applicant, Municipality: City of Cape Town. Location: Atlantis

 

Legal Framework: For the planned maintenance measures for the Atlantis Wellfield to proceed without any environmental authorisation, the DFFE requires that an Environmental Maintenance Management Plan has to be developed to cover the maintenance activities.

 

Date of Advert: 19 March 2026

 

Public Participation Process: The public is hereby notified of the proposed maintenance project and that an Application for Environmental Authorisation will be submitted to the Department:  Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE).  Individuals are invited to formally register as an Interested and Affected Party (I&AP) should they wish to receive future correspondence regarding the Environmental Process (e.g. notification of availability of reports for review and comment).

To register as an I&AP, please contact the person below and provide your name, contact details and an indication of any direct interest (e.g. business, financial or personal) you may have regarding the application. Correspondence throughout the Environmental Process will only be distributed to registered I&APs.

 

Comment Period: The Draft Environmental Maintenance Management Plan (EMMP) is being made available to the public for a 30-day review and comment period from 20 March 2026 to 25 May 2026
