Luanda City Masterplan
A Plan to prosper; improving social and economic life in Luanda through strategic master planning.
Zutari was appointed as engineering consultant for the preparation of a 20-year strategic master plan set to improve conditions in Luanda City Province and its municipalities.
In order to maximise the positive impact of infrastructure development in the region, the master plan is guided by a city vision and includes strategies to guide development, including transport and infrastructure, in line with this vision.
Aligned to international best practice, but rooted in locally relevant solutions, implementation of the strategy is expected to improve management of urban spaces and lead to better conditions for social and economic life in the area.
In order to ensure the skills-transfer needed for successful implementation, Zutari worked closely with stakeholders for a six-month period following the master plan development. The GIS system developed as part of the project also continues to guide city-wide planning
The master plan guides strategic planning for future expansion as well as rehabilitation of the historic city centre.
